How do I collect money from a life insurance policy for my children?

My children's great uncle on there fathers side passed and left my children as beneficiaries on his life insurance policy. The insurance company says I need to get papers from the court saying that I am the executor of their estate. How do I do this and which courts do I need to contact? Please help.
