How much Harry Potter for an 8 yr old?

Have him read one book a year, so by the time he gets to Deathly Hallows he'll be 14. I've read all the books and seen all the movies, bar HP & the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and I think the movies don't quite get it. I mean, in Goblet of Fire, the graveyard seen was a lot more frightening in the book than the movie, even with all the visuals, same with the scene from Order of the Phoenix in the Ministry of Magic.
