Coffee mug warmer for plastic mugs?

My father wants a coffee mug warmer, but he uses plastic mugs. And he won't change his mugs so that is out of the question. I've explained to him that most warmers will probably just melt the mug, but he insists that in this day and age that there HAS to be something out there to do this. So, any suggestions?
