Need help thinking of an idea!?

I am writing a story and I am having a problem thinking of a certain detail. I need to think of a curse that an evil sorcerer would put on an infant that is so bad that the mother would have to hide her child in another world to keep them safe. I know this sounds silly but just go with it. Anyone have any ideas?
